Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we get asked most. If yours is not here, write to us.

The coins

What is a challenge coin?

It started in the military — a coin carried as proof you were there, given rather than sold. Ours borrow the format: two inches across, solid metal, heavy in the hand, one per park. Proof you were there, or a reminder that you want to be.

What do I get?

One 2-inch coin in a crystal-clear acrylic case (3" × 3" × ½"), inside a printed kraft window box. It arrives ready to display or ready to give — no repacking required.

What are they made of?

Solid metal, 2 inches across and ⅕ inch thick, finished in antique gold plate with the colour filled by hand in hard enamel. The front carries the park; the reverse carries the United States National Parks design shared across the whole series.

Are these official National Park Service products?

No. Wnderful Outdoors is independent. We design and produce these ourselves, and 10% of proceeds goes to preserving America's national parks.

Are these limited editions?

No. We're not interested in manufacturing scarcity — if people want a park, we make more of it. Collect at your own pace.

A coin I want is sold out. Will it come back?

Yes. Sold out means we're between batches, not that it's gone. Use the notify option on the product page and you'll hear when it's back.

Collecting

How many coins will there be?

Sixty-three, one for every U.S. national park. Five are available now. Fifty-eight are still in development.

How do you decide which park comes next?

Requests. Every coin on the Coming Soon page has a "Request this park" button, and the tally sets the order. If you want your park sooner, ask for it.

How often do new coins release?

In batches, when a park is ready rather than on a fixed calendar. The mailing list hears first.

Is the complete set cheaper than buying singles?

Yes. Five singles come to $150; the Top 5 Complete Set is $125, and it ships free.

Can I buy these in the parks?

Not yet — wndrful.co only.

Ordering & Shipping

How long until it arrives?

We pack within 1–2 business days, then 3–5 business days with USPS depending on distance. Tracking lands in your inbox the moment the label scans.

Do you ship internationally?

Not yet. US only for now, and we're working on it.

I typed my address wrong.

Email journey@wnderful.co within an hour and we'll try to catch it before it leaves. Once a parcel is gone we can't reroute it.

My tracking hasn't moved.

If it's been still for 7 business days, tell us. We'll chase the carrier, and if it's genuinely lost we'll send another.

Returns

What's the return window?

Thirty days from the day it arrives, and the return label is on us.

What condition does a coin need to be in?

Uncirculated and back in its original capsule. Once a coin has been handled outside the capsule it stops being a collectable, and we won't pass it to the next person as one.

It arrived damaged.

Email journey@wnderful.co within 7 days with your order number and a photo. We'll send a replacement and you keep the original — no post office trip over our mistake.

Can I return a gift?

Yes, as store credit for whoever opened the box. Nobody has to tell the giver.

What's Next?

When is apparel coming?

Hoodies, tees and caps, cut from the same cloth as the coins. Sign up and you'll get one email when the first drop is ready.

Will there be park-specific apparel?

That's the plan — the apparel follows the coins park by park.

About Us

Who Makes these?

A small operation in Las Vegas, Nevada, est. 2024. Every order is packed by hand here.

Where does the 10% go?

At least 10% of the price of every coin goes to the foundations and conservancies that look after the parks — the National Park Foundation, the National Parks Conservation Association, and park-specific groups like the Grand Canyon Conservancy and the Zion Forever Project. Where we can, we send a park's share to the people working on that park.

How do I reach a human?

journey@wnderful.co. You'll hear back within one business day.
